About Magnolia Mosaic

Magnolia Mosaic is a mosaic art studio in Seattle, owned and taught by Aleksandra Nadbitova, a professional mosaic artist and instructor.

The studio grew from a long-time dream of creating a place where people could learn mosaic art, make something with their own hands, and become part of a creative community.

Meet Aleksandra Nadbitova

Aleksandra has been working with mosaic since 2008 and teaching art and mosaic since 2010.

Her interest in mosaic began when she studied the art form at university. She became fascinated by the combination of art, craftsmanship, color, and architecture. That interest eventually became her profession.

Her professional mosaic work has included architectural and decorative projects using materials such as glass, ceramic, marble, and natural stone. Her experience includes large-scale wall and floor mosaics, decorative panels, fountains, pools, and other architectural installations, as well as smaller commissioned and original mosaic works.

She has experience with both traditional mosaic techniques and contemporary methods.

From Mosaic Artist to Teacher

Aleksandra came to teaching somewhat accidentally, but quickly discovered how much she enjoyed it.

She has been teaching art and mosaic since 2010, working with beginners as well as students with previous art experience, including adults and children.

She also teaches through continuing education programs and community-based art classes.

Why Magnolia Mosaic?

Having her own mosaic studio had been a dream of Aleksandra's for a long time.

She wanted to create a place where people could learn, make art, and become part of a creative community.

Teaching has also shaped the way she thinks about the studio. Every student brings a different creative challenge, and Aleksandra enjoys helping them find their own solutions. She also learns something new from every student.

For her, one of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing students grow in confidence and watching their ideas become finished mosaics.

She also hopes to organize exhibitions featuring work created by her students as the Magnolia Mosaic community develops.

A Hands-On Approach to Mosaic

Aleksandra's teaching goes beyond helping students complete a project.

She teaches practical mosaic skills such as cutting and shaping materials, choosing appropriate materials and adhesives, arranging pieces, grouting, and finishing.

At the same time, students are encouraged to develop their own ideas and make individual artistic choices while learning professional mosaic techniques.

Her goal is for students to leave with a finished piece and a better understanding of how mosaics are designed and made.

She especially wants her classes to feel creative and welcoming for beginners.
